Welcome to the Scottish Pan Riders Website!

Hello Everyone!

Wow it has been 3 Years! Scottish Pan Riders was formed 3 years ago on the 6th of March 2014. This is a club run by the members for the benefits of the members. This club  consists of riders of Honda Pan-European Motorcycles  however in addition to this, riders of other makes of large touring bikes as well as pillion riders are welcome to become members.

The SPR is not just about Club Runs. There are adhoc runs for a day out and trips organised by members that  are here in the UK as well as abroad.

There are many events, runs and social activities to take part in. So, look over the website and our Facebook page, perhaps come to a meeting or an organized run and then decide if you would like to become a member.

The weather was great for the Northern Ireland tour! There were 8 bikes in total and blue skies every single day! A special treat was being able to see the first night race at the NW 200 event. The weather that night couldn’t have been any better. Not only the views were spectacular, so was everyone on the journey.

The next Club meeting will be held Thursday 29th June 2017 at the Deer Park Country Club in Livingston. Starting time of 8:00 pm and those fancying a meal can attend earlier.

A slight divergence from the ride chaps and chapettes, which might save you a few bob.....

Is This The Latest -Latest British Telecom Call Centre Scam - Please share to stop others being caught out.
I am posting this to ensure others are not caught out by the, quite frankly appauling, behaviour by BT's call centre operatives in Dublin.

In Summary, my landline went down ( No dialtone, broadband ok) I called the callcentre after 5pm and got through to an "advisor" in Dublin. She told me she needed to do some home tests and informed me to find the master BT socket.
( yes......those who know me must be thinking - being an engineer myself- where is this going?)

I informed the adviser of the type and location of the socket. She then instructed me to remove the two screws securing the front of the box of the socket. ( now at this point I would normally respond along the lines of ( cleaned up for FB), "go find something very useful to do with yourself", that's what I pay you to do.

However, on this occasion as the sun was shining, I duly loosened the two screws, removed the front of the socket to find a blue wire had come loose.
Here is the SCAM. I was then informed that since I had removed the front of the box I Could/Would be charged over £100 for BT engineer to come and fix this. This cost would be applied to my BT phone bill and I would need to then "contest" the issue later.

Oh Really I said, well........well.not quite...... but a similar (WTF) expletive. I therefore requested she contact her supervisor within the Dublin call centre, who refused to give her name and confirmed that they would not send an engineer until a I agreed to pay up front..........]

I am NOT usually uncommonly polite and civil as this but at this point the " S***T actually hit the fan and my wife took over. I felt more violated than conned at this point. Maybe I had a people day, maybe I was just having a happy day - Either way, I would try to stop people falling into this trap.
DO NOT ------UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, follow their instructions to remove the screws on the front of your BT box, this makes you "RESPONSIBLE" and liable for a BILL for the engineer to call. Cannot believe I fell for this, but, S***T happens, and I guess the human race catches "even" me out every now and again.

PLEASE SHARE THIS AS FAR AND WIDE AS POSSIBLE - If they caught me out - and I consider myself to be at least Semi- Intelligent, who else are they targeting??? I don't normally ask folks to share my stuff - But this is so far below the belt that it needs to be STOPPED!!!!
